Within the framework of the delegated authority, the incumbent is assigned all or part of the following duties which are performed according to the needs and agenda:
Lead the management of the global EMT mentorship and classification programme in support of the EMT Manager, including but not limited to:
- continuously improving and implementing the mentorship and verification processes;
- formulating guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the Teams' applications;
- Provide the initial point of contact for any EMT considering to sign up to the EMT mentorship and classification programme;
- managing and following-up on approx. 100 EMTs invarious stages of process through the mentorship and classification process;
- expanding the mentor pool with more clinical, logistics and operations experts through active recruitment and training, and by providing backstopping support;
- supervising and coordinating the pool of international technical experts working on the EMT mentorship and classification programme to ensure coherence;
- organising and managing the verification team site visits including the participation of consultants, and ensure consistency across verification visits.
- As part of the standard setting and collection of best practices, play a key role in developing minimum technical standards and best practices in clinical and operational aspects of relevance to EMTs and provide substantive and technical oversight to consultants and Technical Working Groups as assigned within the team.
- Provide expert advice on national capacity strengthening processes including the promotion of national EMT accreditation processes, and take part in and/or lead capacity strengthening and quality improvement missions for national and international EMTs.
- Provide advice and support to internal and external stakeholders on EMT capability and capacity issues.
- Coordinate when required, with EMTs,Ministries of Health, Registration authorities, Foreign Affairs and National Disaster Management Agencies on issues pertaining to entry and registration requirements.
- Serve as first point of contact on the EMT duty team responsible for initial response planning at the onset of emergency events.
- Provide operational support to the EMT Secretariat in the event of an activation and/or deployment, including but not limited to providing technical support to country, regional and headquarters response functions, preparedness activities and response to emergency.
- Perform other related responsibilities as assigned, including replacing and backstopping for others as required.
