OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME:
The objective of the WHO Indonesia Country Office is to implement the Country Cooperation Strategy by supporting the Indonesian Government in the formulation, implementation and evaluation of national health policies, strategies and plans, and developing and managing WHO’s technical cooperation programmes. The Country Office develops a two-way collaboration with the Government of Indonesia in support of their efforts of achieving national health goals; of ensuring the attainment of universal health coverage and of contributing to global and regional public health action by providing need-based technical assistance in national level policy formulation, setting norms and standards, improving knowledge dissemination and management, monitoring country health situation and building sustainable institutional capacity, to play a greater leadership role in different national level policy and technical forums. Communication along with reporting and evaluation of WHO collaborative programmes in line with policies of the organization are critical functions at the country level.
The SSA will assist the Technical Officer – PLN, under the overall guidance of WHO Representative, in proof-reading, editing and translating various documents under WHO collaborative programmes. S/he will work closely with the Reporting and Communication Officer to produce high quality documents to be published on the WHO website as well as translate them to/from Indonesian. The work will be reviewed by the Technical Officer PLN for overall quality. S/he will work closely both with management and technical teams.

Job Description:
Under the guidance of WHO Representative and the direct supervision of the Technical Officer – PLN, the incumbent performs the following duties:
• Contributes to development of external releases by editing, proof-reading and summarizing technical documents;
• Translates reports, publications, web stories and other content into and from Indonesian/English for internal and external dissemination, ensuring translated texts convey original meaning and tone;
• Supports building internal communications capacity;
• Supports and assists the planning and communication teams as needed;
• Works as advised by WR and Technical Officer to collaborate with other programme areas as and when required.

• Produce copies of relevant documents translated into Indonesian/English.

Functional Knowledge and Skills:
• Strong writing skills, in both English and Indonesian.

Education Qualifications:
Essential: Master’s Degree in Literature or Journalism or equivalent related field in liberal arts.
Desirable: Post graduate degree or PHD in Literature or Journalism or equivalent related field in liberal arts.
Experience:
Essential: At least two years’ experience working as an editor, writer and/or translator.
Desirable:
• Knowledge of public health and/or working with international organizations.
• 4 years of relevant experience in the field.
Languages:
• High level of proficiency in English and Indonesian. Bilingual would be considered an asset.
Other Skills (e.g. IT):
• Proficient in using computer software applications (MS-Office) to produce reports, prepare correspondences, composing e-mails and create multi-media presentations.
