OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME

WHO is the directing and coordinating technical authority for health. WHO recognizes that effective, integrated and coordinated communication is integral to carrying out WHO's goal to build a better, healthier future for people all over the world. The objectives of WHO communications at country level are oriented towards enhancing the appetite for, and accessibility of, information relating to health issues of concern and encouraging behaviour changing activities based on this sharing of information. All communications staff across all offices are committed to making sure that WHO's information, advice, and guidance effectively reaches key audiences to protect the health of individuals, families, communities and nations. Overall, this post will strengthen WHO's communication capacity, with an emphasis on media engagement and monitoring of communication impact of public health issues of local, national and international concern.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

Under the direct supervision of the Deputy WHO Representative and the overall guidance of the WHO Representative, the incumbent will provide support to WHO Indonesia Country Office by performing the following specific duties as part of the Communications team:

• Produce press releases, fact sheets, Q&A's, background documents etc. in both Bahasa Indonesia and English for media and other partners.

• Monitor media mentions and interactions, analysing and interpreting the data to inform communication decisions.

• Expand, foster and strengthen media relationships with local and national agencies.

• Produce content for online communication i.e. WHO Indonesia website and social media both in English and Bahasa Indonesia.

• Contribute to social media packages and campaigns.

• Produce communication products to illustrate and inform the broad public about WHO's work.

• Perform editorial and proofreading functions of official documents, publications and online materials in both Bahasa Indonesia and English.

• Support in implementation of WHO brand and corporate identity, especially during WHO external and internal events.

• Develop and maintain a well-organized computerized and a hard-copy filing system to track and manage incoming and outgoing communications and publications.

• Support in building internal communications capacity.

• Identify training needs for strengthening communications capacity and participate in the delivery of internal workshops and trainings related to communications content creation and media engagement.

• Represent WHO under the delegation and approval of the WR in media activities and with relevant stakeholders.

• Coordinate and collaborate with other programmes to identify and source relevant communications content from activities within WHO Country Office to be shared with media, UN partners, local and/or international NGOs, and donors.

• Perform any other related duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Essential: Relevant Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Journalism, Media, Public Relations, International Relations or another relevant subject.

Desirable: Relevant Master's Degree in Communications, Journalism, Media, Public Relations, International Relations or another relevant subject.

Experience

Essential: Minimum two years' experience in communications, journalism, media, public relations or similar- Experience in capacity building through monitoring and analysis of communication results

Desirable: Four or more years experience in communications, media, public relations or similar, ideally within an international context. Experience creating content for health-related programs

Skills

Knowledge: • Knowledge of communications and media landscape in Indonesia • Knowledge of application various tools of media analysis.

Functional Skills: • Excellent organizational and analytical skills, complemented by sound interpersonal skills. • Proven ability to communicate effectively with media, high level government authorities, multi sectors and partners and donors • Ability to work within a competing environment and with multi sectoral partners. • Technical expertise and overall attitude at work are also required mandatory competencies

Use of Language Skills

Essential: Expert knowledge of English. Expert knowledge of Bahasa Indonesia.

REMUNERATION

Remuneration comprises an annual base salary starting at IDR 402,213,000 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable) and 30 days of annual leave.
