Purpose of the Consultancy
To provide technical support to the logistics and shipping components of the COVID-19 response.
Work to be performed
Under the supervision of the Supply Team Lead in the Operations Support & Logistics (OSL) unit the consultant will support the logistics and shipping components of the COVID-19 response.
Key duties include:
1. Polyvalent and constant technical support to the OSL Supply team according to the upcoming needs, including:
- In liaison with freight forwarders, support the management of the technical aspects of shipping activities and ensure the best possible delivery of goods to the field.
- In liaison with warehouse team, support the management of the shipping technical aspects of the good prepared at warehouse level.
- Monitor and analyses the freight forwarder performance.
- Liaise with Procurement and Supply Officers and Assistants in order to optimize supply chain planning, costing and organization of shipping.
- Provide input to the emergency operations to maintain and improve the efficiency, effectiveness and cost-effective level of services provided by the OSL unit.
- Regularly review / produce procedures with the aim to continuously provide a higher level of service.
2. Permanent update of data sharing tools (SharePoint / Shared Drive / Goggle drive), including:
- Ensure that the supply administration and database operations are implemented according to the procedures, rules and guidelines.
- Provide accurate information on the orders monitoring and follow-up in weekly basis.
- Drive optimization of the data integration across World Health Organization network in order to drive efficiencies.
Specific requirements
1. Qualifications required:
- A University’s degree in Economics, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Finance and/or Business Administration.
2. Experience required:
- Essential: Minimum 5 years’ experience in Supply Chain Management, Supply Operations, and/or Procurement.
- Desirable: Experience in supplier performance monitoring and/or project management. Experience with United Nations Organizations.
3. Skills / Technical skills and knowledge:
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in Supply Chain Management, Supply Operations, and/or Procurement.
- Demonstrated interpersonal and diplomatic skills, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with all stakeholders and to present ideas clearly and effective.
- Excellent analytical and writing skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work in multi-cultural, multi-disciplinary environment.
- Great attention to detail and be highly organized.
4. Language requirements:
- Proficiency in English (oral and written) is required.
- French and/or Spanish is a plus
5. Other Skills (e.g. IT):
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, PowerBI and Tableau preferred.
- Good general knowledge of enterprise resource planning systems.
- Demonstrated skills in databases management and use for monitoring of procurement, inventory, and forecast needs.
